ART IS A VERB

ART IS A VERB is an adventurous art making experience in Brooklyn for girls — who want to dive deeply into their creativity. This year we will offer one session in Old Lyme, Connecticut.

Enrollment is limited to six artists to ensure safety — and that each creator receives plenty of personal challenge, guidance and feedback to develop her work and ideas.

The philosophy behind ART IS A VERB is focused on process rather than product making. While artists question, imagine, draw, plan and make things, along the way they are encouraged to explore mistakes, change their minds, develop ideas — and live in a conversation between materials, ideas, peers and possibilities.

This kind of focused art making develops curiosity, problem solving, resilience and confidence.

This summer, Anita and Athena Kokoronis will host two sessions in Brooklyn — followed by a third session in Old Lyme, Connecticut hosted by Anita and Susan Zirlen.

Session One : Monday, June 28th – Friday, July 2nd, Brooklyn : Exploring | Drawing | Painting | Stitching

Session Two : Monday, July 19th – Friday, 23rd, Brooklyn :Exploring |Drawing | Painting | Stitching

Session Three : Monday, August 2nd – Friday, 6th, Old Lyme, Connecticut : Stitching | Dyeing | Textiles | Embroidery

Depending on interest additional mediums/processes may be included.
